Tyson Foods promotes Garrett Olson to VP in packaged brands

Tyson Foods recently promoted Garrett Olson to vice president of finance for its retail packaged brands group. In his new role Olson is responsible for supporting Tyson Foods’ retail leadership team and providing financial insights and strategic decisions that help grow the business.

Olson joined Tyson Foods last year in the Hillshire Brands acquisition. He first joined Hillshire with the Sara Lee Corporation in 1997. Olson has worked in various roles including corporate development, financial planning and analysis, international finance and finance for several brands.

“He brings significant financial expertise and brand insights to this team which will drive strategic growth of our key retail brands including Tyson, Jimmy Dean, Hillshire Farm and Ball Park,” said Marty Bryan, vice president of retail brands at Tyson Foods.

Olson holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa. He also attended Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management where he earned a master’s degree in business administration in 2002.
