Northwest Arkansas Council to hold Workforce Training Summit
The Northwest Arkansas Council in conjunction with business, educational and political leaders will host a regional Workforce Summit on Nov. 17 at the Northwest Arkansas Convention Center in Springdale.
The Northwest Arkansas Workforce Summit aims to convene leaders from every area who share responsibility and leadership in making the region a national pacesetter in this effort. The event will feature a slate of speakers including Rick Webb, former executive at Wal-Mart; Russell Tooley, senior vice president at Tyson Foods; Jennifer McNelly, president of Manufacturing Institute and Dr. Tim Hodges of Gallup Inc.
The Council has tagged workforce training as vital to the future of the economy and is making it a top priority in its 2015-2017 strategic plan.
Local chambers of commerce are taking part in the summit as their annual survey of employers throughout the region continue to indicate the need for better workforce training programs to help fill the talent gap.
