Wal-Mart names Dan Bryant as new corporate affairs lead in Washington
Wal-Mart names Dan Bryant as its new senior vice president of global public policy and government affairs, according to an internal memo written by Dan Barlett, executive vice president of corporate affairs for the retail giant.
Bryant will join Wal-Mart effective Nov. 9 and lead the retailers corporate affairs team based in Washington, D.C. He will report to Barlett and oversee the federal and international government affairs teams as well as policy functions. Bryant will also represent Wal-Mart before the U.S.Congress, the White House and federal agencies.
For the past three years Bryant as served as a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Covington & Burling where he chaired the firm’s global public policy and government affairs group. Prior to that he held similar corporate affairs and compliance duties at PepsiCo.
Before PepsiCo, Bryant served as an assistant attorney general at the U.S. Department of Justice. He was responsible for planning and coordinating implementation of major legal policy initiatives and advising the Attorney General on legal and policy matters.
Bryant, earned his bachelor’s degree and a law degree from the American University in Washington, D.C. His master’s degree is from Oxford University in England.
He and wife Aerin have four children and live in the Washington, D.C. area.
