Cartright named VP safety and recruiting for USA Truck
Billy Cartright has been named vice president of safety and recruiting effective Monday (Oct. 5) at Van Buren-based USA Truck Inc.
Cartright joins USA Truck from Con-way Inc., where he served as senior director of operations. In that position, he managed 3,100 driver and non-driver personnel and oversaw fleet management, customer service, planning, equipment control, service team and terminal management.
During his 16-year tenure at Con-way, Cartright also served as director of safety. In that role, he oversaw the development and deployment of safety strategy, culture and improvement, focusing on Compliance, safety and accountability (CSA) scores, driver training, accident and workers’ compensation prevention, E-log rollout and safety technology deployment.
“Billy’s wide-ranging experience with an industry-leading company will serve us well as we work to enhance our Company’s operations. Improving safety, driver recruiting and driver orientation are all key goals for USA Truck and we look forward to his contributions in these important areas,” USA Truck President and CEO Tom Glaser said in a statement.
Cartright earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the Missouri Southern State University and completed Con-way’s ALPHA program, a two-year advanced leadership training program, in 2010. He received the company’s CEO Constellation Award, which recognizes exemplary employees, in 2013.
