‘Tipi Talks’ is a monthly gathering which takes place at the Museum, and explores interesting topics pertaining to contemporary Native American culture and history. As well as being a Grammy nominated recording artist, John Two-Hawks is a wonderful teacher and speaker with a wealth of knowledge about American Indian culture. ‘Tipi Talks’ is a relaxed, enjoyable evening of sharing, laughing and learning.
The ‘Pilgrims & Indians – The Thanksgiving Myth presentation will share the history – not the myth – told from the American Indian perspective. Learn about the ancient ‘harvest ceremonies’ Native cultures have practiced for thousands of years. Learn the actual origin of the American ‘Thanksgiving Day’ holiday, and the varying perspectives Native people have about it. This will be a great talk! Admission to the museum is free.
