California high school quarterback star transfers to the Razorbacks

The Razorbacks have added quarterback transfer Ricky Town, head coach Bret Bielema announced Friday (Aug. 21).
 
A consensus four-star recruit, Town enrolled this January at the University of Southern California and participated in spring drills and summer workouts with the Trojans. He was the No. 5 rated pro-style quarterback by Rivals and No. 6 pro-style quarterback by 247 Sports in the class of 2015.
 
“Ricky is a very talented young man who comes from a great family,” Bielema said in the statement. “We are very excited to have him join our program. Ricky is the kind of uncommon person we are looking for and will fit into our program athletically, academically and socially.”
 
Town played in the U.S. Army All-American game last year and competed in the prestigious Elite 11 camp as one of the 11 top prep quarterbacks in the country. As a senior at St. Bonaventure (Ventura, Calif.), he completed 66.2% of his passes for 2,639 yards and 28 touchdowns. Despite attempting 290 passes, he threw just three interceptions. Throughout his high school career, Town threw for 76 touchdowns.

Town will be eligible to play for the Razorbacks during the 2016 season and will have four years of eligibility. He joins a group of talent at the position, including Ty Storey from Charleston High School in Charleston, Ark. Storey was recruited by Alabama, Auburn and other high-profile college teams but joined the Razorbacks in December 2014.
