‘Tourism Champion’ Jim Gaston Passes Away At Age 73

The Baxter Bulletin and Mountain Home radio station KTLO are reporting that longtime “champion of tourism” Jim Gaston has passed away at the age of 73.

Gaston, renowned for his Gaston’s White River Resort, was an early advocate for tourism promotion in Arkansas and served in many roles to advance the industry.

Gaston was a lifetime member of the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism Commission. He served as a president of the group and was commissioner emeritus.

He also served as president of the Arkansas Tourism Development Foundation and was a past president of Arkansas Hospitality Association.
