Jonesboro fire crews have worked through the night to fight a fire in downtown Jonesboro.

According to Jonesboro E911 Director Jeff Presley, multiple crews are at 411 Union Street. They were called to the area Thursday night, but have worked through Friday morning.

Crews are staying away from a building due to a threat of collapse. According to Jonesboro Fire Chief Kevin Miller, the fire is causing cracks in the wall of the structure. They are also concerned about the roof.

Jonesboro police have been dispatched to help control traffic in the area.

Union Street is blocked off from Washington Avenue to Huntington Avenue. Avoid the area if possible.

So far no injuries have been reported.

The Craighead County Courthouse was closed Friday due to smoke and road closures, according to Presley.

According to Miller, the fire has been contained to a single building, but crews are worried about the building next door.

The first floor houses Eden Medical Spa & Boutique.

Crews on the scene tell Region 8 News several off-duty firefighters have been called in to help. That allows firefighters to be rotated in and out.

We’re told crews are concerned about the heat and are working to protect the firefighters from heat exhaustion.

““We’re going to be out here for quite a while. This is an older building. It’s been remodeled several times,” Chief Miller said. “It’s going to be very time consuming, very labor intensive. We’re going to be out here for quite a while.”
