Delta Regional Authority Supports NE Arkansas Jobs With Two Grants

PECO Foods has not even begun operations, but already the plant is bringing hundreds of thousands of dollars to Northeast Arkansas.
The Delta Regional Authority announced Wednesday that Clay County will receive $256,500 to improve County Road 142 in Corning.
The upgrade will allow increased access to industrial sites along the road and provide “direct logistical support for the recent expansion of PECO Foods,” the DRA said in an email to Region 8 News.
The city of Marmaduke will also receive $100,000 to build a rail spur along the Union Pacific line to provide “much needed logistical support to local industry, including American Railcar Industries,” the DRA said.
“Both of these projects will help Delta industries create and retain important jobs for our Delta workers, lay the ground work for future business locations, and enhance northeast Arkansas’ regional economy,” said DRA Federal Co-Chairman Chris Masingill.
The investments come as part of the DRA’s 2014 States’ Economic Development Assistance Program, which makes strategic investments in Delta communities to support local and regional economic development projects.
