Standridge To Take Senate District 16 Seat
Greg Standridge defeated former State Rep. Stan Berry in a GOP runoff election to replace former State Sen. Michael Lamoureux.
Standridge unofficially won the Senate District 16 seat with 2,673 votes (54%) to Berry’s 2,313 votes (46%).
Lamoureux resigned the Senate seat with roughly two years left on his four-year term in order to become chief of staff for Gov. Asa Hutchinson.
Standridge, a Republican, will not officially take the Senate seat until April when the formality of a special general election – in which he will be unopposed – officially occurs.
There are no Democratic or third party candidates vying for the Senate post.
