Native Plant Workshop
Three-Day Native Plant Workshop to be Held at Hobbs State Park
Sharon Haley, Arkansas’s 1996 Master Gardener of the Year, will lead a 3-day native plant workshop at Hobbs State Park February 22nd, March 1st, and March 8th.
The 3-part program will be a hands-on class for gardeners who want to grow native plants. The focus of all three classes will be your garden and realistic expectations for choosing native plants while integrating them successfully into your landscape. Gardeners will design a space and make a specific plan for growing and maintaining the plants they choose.
Because discussions will be tailored to the class participant’s specific needs, class size will be limited. Topics will likely include: basic design suggestions; native species for Northwest Arkansas gardens; choosing and finding plants; maintaining; recognizing and controlling invasive plant species; insects and other garden guests; ways to solve specific problems in your garden. Since today’s gardeners often are faced with limited resources, the workshop will look at ways to save time and money in the garden.
Those interested in participating can call and leave their name and contact information (Email and/or phone number) by February 7th. In mid-February you will be contacted with more information about the workshop.
