The state capitol will be packed this week as the 90th General Assembly begins on Monday.
Here’s a quick rundown of some of the political activities surrounding the start of the legislative session and inaugural events.
Monday, Jan. 12
- 8:30 a.m. – Swearing-in of new State Police Director Bill Bryant, State Capitol, Old Supreme Court Room
- Noon – 90th General Assembly Convenes, State Capitol, House Chamber; House members sworn in; Speaker Gillam announces committee chairmanships
- Noon – 90th General Assembly Convenes, State Capitol, Senate Chamber; Senate members sworn in
- 7 p.m. – Gov.-elect Hutchinson Red, White & BBQ Inaugural Party, Little Rock Museum of Discovery
Tuesday, Jan. 13
- 8:30 a.m. – Inaugural Church Service, Little Rock, Immanuel Baptist Church
- 9 a.m. – Joint Budget Committee, Big Mac, Room A
- 10:30 a.m. – Hutchinson Oath of Office, State Capitol, House Chamber
- Noon – Hutchinson Inaugural Address, State Capitol, Capitol Steps
- 1 p.m. – Governor’s Reception, State Capitol, Rotunda
- 1 p.m. – Lt. Governor’s Reception, State Capitol, Suite 270
- 6:30 p.m. – Governor’s Ball, Little Rock Statehouse Convention Center
On Wednesday, session business will attempt to organize with a Joint Budget Committee scheduled for 9 a.m. that morning.
