He was a fixture for reporters and the public for more than decade having served as Mike Beebe’s gubernatorial spokesman and communications director when he was Attorney General.

Matt DeCample kicked out this statement today about his new consulting firm:

Matt DeCample, after serving as Governor Mike Beebe’s Press Secretary since 2003, has founded Capital C Consulting, LLC.

Based in Little Rock, Capital C will focus on strategic communications and media relations, as well as on crisis media, corporate improvisation training and public speaking.

“Media relations has its own mechanics that may appear odd from the outside,” DeCample said. “For example, I’m writing my own release in the third person, except for this quote, where I’ve shifted to the first person. All industries have their own vocabularies and construction. If you have the right communications strategy and representatives, you can craft an external message in language that clients, investors and the media will understand.”

One skill that can benefit any professional is improvisation. While an entertaining form of spontaneous comedy, improv has real-world applications for business interactions. A popular team-building pursuit in other parts of the country, there is very little corporate improv training available in the Mid-South. DeCample looks forward to changing that.

Prior to working for Beebe, DeCample spent seven years in television news and has 12 years experience performing improv comedy. He also serves as emcee or host for various nonprofit and charity events.
