Dig In! Food and Farming Festival
The Dig In! Food and Farming Festival will take place March 6 and 7 in Springdale, AR. The festival celebrates local food, farms, and gardens with films, classes, discussions, a keynote speaker, local food, opening reception, information and vendor fair, seed and tool exchange, and children’s workshops. Friday’s opening reception will be held at Fairlane Station, and Saturday’s activities will take place at the Jones Center.
Keynote speaker for the festival is Douglas Gayeton, artist, filmmaker, writer, photographer, director of the Know Your Food series for PBS, and author of LOCAL: The New Face of Food and Farming in America.
Friday night’s opening reception at Fairlane Station will include tastings from local farm-to-table restaurants and local breweries, a presentation by Gayeton, and a film. Saturday class sessions will introduce topics such as budget no-till gardening, winter gardening, herbs, backyard fruit, cooking, fermentation, seed starting, backyard chickens, food preservation, home brewing, raising goats, growing mushrooms, yoga, and raising crickets for food.
The Dig In! Food and Farming Festival is partnering in 2015 with Fayetteville Public Schools’ Seed to Student program, which will receive a portion of the proceeds from the festival.
