Arkansas Nonprofit Alliance Partners With 55 Groups For Giving Tuesday
The Arkansas Nonprofit Alliance has partnered with 55 nonprofits statewide to launch Giving Tuesday (#GivingTuesdayAR) on Dec. 2 – part of a national movement to highlight local philanthropy.
The groups supporting Giving Tuesday are seeking to counter the spotlight on holiday purchases surrounding Black Friday and Cyber Monday and emphasize charitable giving during the holiday season.
“We are celebrating the holidays by promoting a season of giving. We encourage all Arkansans to donate money, time or talent to a nonprofit of their choice. We want this year’s Giving Tuesday to be a great success,” said Stephanie Meincke, president and CEO of the Arkansas Nonprofit Alliance.
“This movement was created to impact lives during a time of year when people can clearly see the needs of people within their community. Giving to an organization you care about is a powerful way to kick off the holiday season,” Meincke said.
For those wanting to participate, the ANA asks citizens to give donations to organizations of their choice and use the hashtag #GivingTuesdayAR on Facebook and Twitter to share with others.
92nd Street Y – a New York-based culture, arts, entertainment and conversation organization – was the catalyst for Giving Tuesday, bringing the expertise of its 139 years of community management to the project and providing Giving Tuesday a home.
The United Nations Foundation has joined as a partner, bringing its strategic and communications clout to the project. The groups are touting a list of major corporations and nonprofits that have agreed to spread the word and make commitments to support the Giving Tuesday initiative.
