GOP Takes All Four Congressional Seats, Statewide Offices

In a historic election, Arkansas Republicans took all four of Arkansas’ seats in the U.S. Congress.

Incumbents Rick Crawford (AR-1) and Steve Womack (AR-3) cruised to easy re-election bids in a year that saw major Republican gains across the state.

In Congressional District 4, Republican Bruce Westerman outdistanced Democrat James Lee Witt to win by about 10 points 53-43%.

In Congressional District 2, GOP nominee French Hill won a close battle with Democrat Pat Hays 52-43.5% in a race that was the last to be called.

The four Republican wins put all the U.S. House seats and both Senate seats in the GOP column for the first time in modern history.

STATEWIDE GAINS
In addition to winning the Congressional seats, the U.S. Senate, the Governor’s office, and supermajorities in the state Legislature, Republicans also won all six remaining constitutional offices:

Lt. Governor – Tim Griffin (R) over John Burkhalter (D) – 56.5-40%
Attorney General – Leslie Rutledge (R) over Nate Steel (D) – 51.5%-45%
Secretary of State – Mark Martin (R) over Susan Inman (D) – 60-36%
Treasurer – Dennis Milligan (R) over Karen Sealy Garcia (D) – 60-38%
Auditor – Andrea Lea (R) over Regina Stewart Hampton (D) – 56.5-38.5%
Land Commissioner (R) over Mark Robertson (D) – 57-37.5%
