Debates Set In Key State House Races
The Kiwanis Club of Jonesboro will host four programs this month featuring the state House of Representatives races that affect Craighead County.
Each program will features the two candidates contesting a district office in the Nov. 4 general election. All candidates have confirmed their participation.
The first program will be Wednesday, when District 52 candidates Dwight Tosh, a Republican, and Radius Baker, a Democrat, appear before the club.
Kiwanis president Roy Ockert will serve as moderator.
Here are the other programs:
- Oct. 15 — state House District 53 candidates Homer Lenderman (D) and Dan Sullivan (R);
- Oct. 22 — state House District 58 candidates Harold Copenhaver (D) and Brandt Smith (R); and
- Oct. 29 — state House District 59 candidates Jack Ladyman (R) and Ron Carroll (D).
Each program will include a short opening statement by each candidate, questions from Kiwanis members and a short closing statement.
The civic club meets at noon Wednesdays at Barnhill’s Restaurant on Caraway Road.
The programs are open to the public on a space-available basis. Guests may go through the regular buffet line and bring their plates to the meeting room, which is in the front part of the restaurant.
