Election Central: Hill Takes On Hays In The Second
KATV’s Elicia Dover delivers Monday’s Election Central Daily Brief, which includes news from the Second District Congressional race, Mark Pryor’s campaign and the Governor’s race.
PRYOR KICKING OFF NEW TOUR
Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor’s campaign says Pryor will make a big announcement Tuesday as he launches his latest statewide tour.
A press release from the campaign says Pryor will reveal an initiative that quote “keeps the spotlight squarely focused on what matters most to Arkansans.”
The campaign kicks off at noon in front of the firefighter’s memorial at the state capitol.
IN THE SECOND
In the Second District, Congressional Republican candidate French Hill is out with a new TV ad today calling his Democratic opponent Patrick Henry Hays a “big government politician.” The ad, which you can view at the bottom of this post, seeks to connect Hays to President Obama’s agenda.
The Hays campaign responded saying, “French Hill is out with a false attack ad today in which he bizarrely claims he is responding to a negative attack against him that does not exist.”
A Hays spokesman said “when the first sentence out of French Hill’s mouth in his new attack ad is a lie, it’s impossible to take the rest of his claims seriously.”
GOVERNORS, SCHOOLS & MARSHALLS
Tomorrow, gubernatorial candidates Asa Hutchinson and Mike Ross say they’ll participate in the Arkansas Public School Resource Center candidate forum tomorrow in Hot Springs.
Ross’ campaign also says he’ll be at the U.S. Marshalls museum ground breaking in Fort Smith on Wednesday and the Northwest Arkansas Political Animals Club on Thursday.
Finally, a new group called Arkansas Women Vote will be launching on Tuesday. The group says they’re frustrated by the absence of meaningful political discussion of issues important to women.
