KATV’s Elicia Dover shares the day’s top political headlines in the Election Central Daily Brief.

NEW HAYS AD
The Democratic candidate running for Congress in Arkansas’ Second Congressional District released a new ad Tuesday (which you can view at the bottom of this post). The ad says when Pat Hays was mayor of North Little Rock he encouraged businesses to grow and removed unnecessary regulations on them.

Hays dresses up as an ice cream man saying he brought Blue Bell to Arkansas and he rides a Caterpillar tractor, which is another business he highlights in the ad. Hays also dons a baseball jersey and heads into the Arkansas Travelers baseball game with his grandchildren.

His challenger, Republican French Hill responded calling Hays a big government career politician — not a job creator.

GOVERNOR SWINGS
GOP gubernatorial candidate Asa Hutchinson wants you to remember he supports raising the minimum wage. Hutchinson sent out a statement Tuesday morning saying he wants to reiterate his consistent support of raising it. Hutchinson said he wants to work with the state Legislature to raise the minimum wage to at least match the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour.

The Democratic Party of Arkansas responded that Hutchinson has opposed the minimum wage ballot initiative in Arkansas and Hutchinson sees it’s hurting him in the polls.

His challenger, Democrat Mike Ross, has thrown his support behind the proposed ballot initiative being pushed by “Give Arkansas A Raise Now.”

The Arkansas Realtors Association’s Political Action Committee said Tuesday they’re going to make a contribution to Ross’ campaign. They made the decision after candidate interviews. FYI on Wednesday, Ross will visit a senior life center in Jonesboro.
