Champions in Heels

The Northwest Arkansas Women’s Shelter will host the Champions in Heels event on May 31 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the Bentonville High School Track. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.

Area men, including Honorary Chair, Duncan Mac Naughton will race in high heels to raise awareness about domestic violence and sexual assault. Local fire, police and public service teams have already signed up to participate as well as many local businessmen. There is opportunity for four men teams and individuals to partake in the race. All proceeds from the event will benefit the NWA Women’s Shelter.

Those registered will compete for prizes in various categories such as best shoes. The event will also include an assortment of games, food and music so it will a fun time for all.

“We know that domestic violence does not discriminate and that an estimated 119,000 people in NWA are affected by domestic violence annually,” said Melanie Palmer, Executive Director of the Shelter. “Participating in this event is a great way for our community to rally together and show their support for victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, and to take a stand against family violence in our community.”
