• Walmex collaborates with toy retailer for holidays

Wal-Mart’s Mexican division has partnered with Juguetilandia, a Spanish toy retailer to open 230 stores next to Walmex locations hoping to spur holiday sales amid sluggish traffic patterns in recent months.

The stores will be open from Oct. 12 through Jan. 7,  offering financial services for structuring payments and Banamex y Banco Walmart services. RNG reports these stores will also offer exclusive product brands as Hot Wheels, Max Steel, Avengers, Lego and Transformers.

• Walmart.com offers free shipping
Wal-Mart said Tuesday (Oct. 15) it will provide free shipping for online orders valued at $50 or more, not just for the holidays but all year long. The move comes as the retailer looks to boost its online sales by 30%, or $3 billion next year.

Joel Anderson, CEO of Walmart.com, said the free delivery is available on 98% of items, compared to just 40% last year. He said consumers can chose from 5 million items online, up from 2 million last year. He also said it will offer two-day delivery for $2.97, with no membership required as it has sped up delivery time by 15%, while lowering costs by 10%.
