Wal-Mart gift helps Bentonville ‘Make a Difference’
Wal-Mart said it will donate $25,000 in a matching gift to the city of Bentonville as part of “Make a Difference Day."
The funds are to be used for the purchase of 1,000 trees that will be planted along Walton Boulevard and other high visibility locations in the city.
The purchase and planting will be a collaboration between Wal-Mart, the city, Bentonville Public Schools and Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
Mayor Bob McCaslin will accept the donation Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m. outside the Walton 5 & 10 on the Bentonville Town Square. The public is invited to attend.
City officials expect the public presentation will spur community interest and help to solicit volunteers willing to work on the project.
