Shatner to bring his world to the Walton Arts Center
Captain Kirk, T.J. Hooker and Denny Crane are coming to Fayetteville.
All three characters may or may not be included in William Shatner’s one-man show, “Shatner’s World: We Just Live In It” that is coming to the Walton Arts Center at 8 p.m. on Jan. 11, 2014.
Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m., July 24.
“Performing for audiences on the road has been one of the most gratifying experiences I’ve ever had as an actor,” William Shatner noted in a statement. “My fans are the best in the world and I can’t wait to get back on tour this year.”
The 90-minute show will take audiences on a voyage through the life and career of William Shatner, who is known as much for his unique persona as for his expansive body of work on television and film.
Shatner, born March 22, 1931 in Montreal, Canada, was an actor in numerous television shows and movies – including a prominent role in the classic film “Judgment at Nuremberg” – prior to landing a gig in 1966 as Captain James T. Kirk. Although Star Trek lasted only three season, it created a cult following and ultimately launched Shatner’s career to include a starring role in the television series T.J. Hooker, the popular role of eccentric lawyer Denny Crane on Boston Legal and starring roles in several Star Trek movies.
A WAC statement suggests that Shatner’s visit is a rare chance to witness this one-man force of nature as he showcases his laugh-out-loud humor, signature storytelling, and inimitable style. Through anecdotes, songs, jokes and even some poignant moments, you will experience this legend’s phenomenal path from classically trained actor to cultural icon, brilliantly creating the larger-than-life and most important character he has ever played, William Shatner.
This performance goes on sale with the rest of the season, which includes the Broadway versions of Jersey Boys, Chicago and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Wizard of Oz. The WAC season also includes live concerts from Aaron Neville and The Doobie Brothers, family shows like Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and The Nutcracker, and performances by Jim Belushi.
