Auditions for The Wizard of Oz

Auditions for The Wizard of Oz, by L. Frank Baum, music and lyrics by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg, background music by Herbert Stothart, dance and vocal arrangements by Peter Howard, orchestration by Larry Wilcox, adapted by John Kane for the Royal Shakespeare Company, based upon the classical motion picture owned by Turner Entertainment Co., and distributed in all media by Warner Bros, will be held July 29-30, at 7 p.m. Performances dates are September 13-15, 19-22, 26-29, 2013.

Auditions will be based upon singing, dancing and acting and auditions information may be obtained at www.rogerslittletheater.org or by contacting the RLT at 479-631-8988.

One of the most classic movies of all times comes to life on stage! Come join Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tinman, the Cowardly Lion and Toto as they travel the universe of Dorothy's imagination doing battle with the Wicked Witch of the West and her legions of Flying Monkeys.

Aunt Em/Glinda Good Witch of the North, aged 21-55

Munchkins, total of 9 girls and 9 boys, aged 8-16
Adult Swings, total of 3 men and 3 women, aged 18-35

This musical is based on an iconic movie; therefore, the physical size, age, and general appearance of the performer needs to match as close as possible to those playing the roles in the movie. Dorothy, Aunt Em, and Almira Gulch must be capable of the physical demands inherent to these characterse. Zeke, Hickory and Hunk will need to be willing to subject themselves to heavy make-up. Now in its 27th year, RLT produces a wide variety of plays, musicals and special events at the historic Victory Theater in downtown Rogers. With a subscription base of more than 450 members and funding support from some of the area’s most prominent businesses, foundations and community groups, RLT is a vibrant part of the region.
