Entrepreneur boot camp on tap for high schoolers
The Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce, NorthWest Arkansas Community College and the Northwest Arkansas Entrepreneurship Alliance are offering an “Entrepreneur Boot Camp” for rising high school students — grades nine to twelve– in Washington County.
This five day event begins on Monday (June 24) and will bring area students together to learn about entrepreneurship, receive hands-on experience, and participate in a competition to win prizes, and support to start their own company
Fifteen students will begin the week learning the fundamentals of entrepreneurship. Students will visit the Arkansas Research and Technology Park to get a look at the high-tech side of entrepreneurship, as well as hands-on experience at the Iceberg Coworking space.
Working in teams, students will develop a business model to present in the form of a sixty-second elevator pitch at the end of the week. The competition is judged by local entrepreneurs, advocates, and professionals.
The winning team will receive one-thousand dollars in seed money to start their own business, as well as legal support from Smith-Hurst law firm.
Students may apply for the next year’s boot camp through the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce or their school.
