Naturals to Host Preliminary Round of High School Home Run Derby on May 18
Local athletes will compete for a spot in the 2013 Texas League All-Star Game Home Run Derby
This season the Northwest Arkansas Naturals are proud hosts of the 77th annual Texas League All-Star Game, presented by Castrol, on Tuesday, June 25th. Every year, a Home Run Derby is held for a select number of Texas League All-Stars in concurrence with the event. The Naturals have extended an opportunity to some of the local players from the High School and Babe Ruth ranks to compete for two available spots in the upcoming 2013 Texas League All-Star Home Run Derby, presented by Tyson Foods.
The Naturals will host a preliminary round for these high school athletes on Saturday, May 18th at Arvest Ballpark from 12:30-3:00pm. Ultimately, two local athletes will earn the right to compete with the future stars of Major League Baseball at the 2013 Texas League All-Star Home Run Derby on Tuesday, June 25th.
Home Run Derby Dates:
• Preliminary Round – Saturday, May 18th from 12:30-3:00pm
• 77th Annual Texas League All-Star Game and Tyson Foods Home Run Derby on Tuesday, June 25th – Derby begins approximately at 6pm
Details of the High School Home Run Derby are as follows:
• No more than two high school athletes per school
• Participants may provide their own pitcher
• Participants must provide their own bat to be used
• Each participant will be allotted ten outs (an out will constitute as any swing that does not result in a home run)
