CAJUN de Mayo
Each year Northwest Arkansas has the honor of hosting the Hugh O'Brian Youth (HOBY) leadership conference for high school sophomores from around the state who show innate leadership skills in their everyday lives among their peers. To attend, the candidates must to go through a rigorous vetting process at their respective high schools to be delegated as an ambassador–including essays and interviews. During the weekend, they are involved in lectures, community service, and small group projects for about 16 HOURS/DAY!! Quite the attention span on these kiddos!
As you can guess, transporting, feeding and housing ~150 kids for an entire weekend isn't cheap. At all.
Enter: The Powerhouse. The Powerhouse Seafood & Grill of Fayetteville has graciously offered to donate 50% of all FOOD sales generated from the patio and Boar's Head Pub (back bar) to HOBY!
How can you help? It's elementary, dear Watson. To participate in raising funds for HOBY at "Cajun de Mayo":
- You don’t have to buy tickets.
- You don’t have to dress up.
- You don’t have to train for weeks or months to participate.
- Nor are you responsible for taking a collection in advance.
Essentially, if you plan on eating on May 5th and appreciate a-MAY-zing food and drinks and live music, you WON'T want to miss this family-friendly charity event!
See ya' at the Powerhouse–ou les bon temps rouler!
