Children’s Shelter Starlight Gala to feature The Band Perry
Supporters of the Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter who attend the April 27 Starlight Gala will be treated to the sounds of The Band Perry, the award-winning country music trio.
The Shelter recently announced The Band Perry will be the headline entertainment at the gala, which has been named among the top three “Favorite Charity Galas” in Celebrate Arkansas magazine.
“The Starlight Gala has been one of the highest-profile and most successful charity events in Northwest Arkansas for the past few years,” said Steve Schotta, Executive Director of the Children’s Shelter. “Having The Band Perry as our headliner maintains the Starlight Gala’s status as Northwest Arkansas’ premier fund-raising event. The Band Perry’s performance will enable us to help even more kids in crisis, providing them a place where the hurts they have experienced can begin to heal.”
The Children’s Shelter must raise 80% of its operating budget and successful events such as the Starlight Gala are a major method towards reaching that goal. Last year’s gala netted about 15 percent of the Shelter’s annual budget (about $435,000), according to a press release from the shelter. Schotta expects to surpass that mark this year, according to the press release.
The Band Perry – comprised of siblings Kimberly, Reid and Neil Perry – signed with Republic Nashville in August 2009. Combining elements of classic Country with an eclectic infusion of Rock and Soul, rounded out by perfect three-part harmonies, the family band's heralded, platinum-certified, self-titled debut album was released in October 2010 and quickly catapulted them into the mainstream with hits like If I Die Young. The Band Perry is currently putting the finishing touches on their highly anticipated, sophomore album, slated for an April 2 release.
The Starlight Gala is presented by General Mills and will be April 27 at the John Q. Hammons Convention Center in Rogers.
