TV show recruiting paranormal activity
Producers from the popular SyFy channel show Haunted Collector are looking for people with homes or offices – possibly in Arkansas – who have experienced paranormal activity and want help to make it stop.
Haunted Collector is a non-scripted, hour-long dramatic series that features John Zaffis and his family as they investigate each location’s paranormal problem. Season three is in production and will air in the United States within the next year.
The Zaffis family members are well-known paranormal investigators who use technology and good old fashioned investigative techniques to identify objects or materials that might contain “residual energy,” according to the show’s description from the SyFy channel.
“We are currently reaching out to home and business owners who are experiencing paranormal activity ad seeking help,” said Producer Christian Meola.
HELPING THE HAUNTED
The show is taking submissions but producers are tight-lipped about where potential sites might be in Arkansas.
“There may be a chance we send the team to Arkansas as we’ve had a lot of people reach out this year and have some promising locations,” Producer Jen Hutchins said. “We are continuing to speak with home and business owners who are not OK with paranormal activity occurring and would like to be considered for the show.”
Anyone who would like to have their location considered for the show must email the following information to [email protected]:
First and last name
City and state
Contact information
Describe the location (home, business, or other)
Describe the unexplained phenomena.
SOME LIKE IT HAUNTED
While this television show focuses on paranormal activity that is not desired, other there are other places in Northwest Arkansas and the Fort Smith area that are considered haunted and the owners are more than OK with it.
The 1886 Crescent Hotel and Spa calls itself America’s most haunted hotel and it has a popular tour and other tourist favorites at the hotel. It has been featured on several popular television shows including SyFy’s Ghost Hunters and the Biography channel’s My Biography.
“People are intrigued with this historical hotel that has been featured by shows that they enjoy,” said Bill Ott, director of marketing and communications for the hotel. “We like to say that we are a mountain-top resort and oh, by the way, we also have ghosts. We say that they are the guests that check out but never leave.”
The Haunted Prison is located at Chaffee Crossing and is now the only remaining Fort Smith location featured on the Travel Channel’s Ghost Adventures. The hospital complex at Fort Chaffee was also featured on the show but that complex burned in 2011.
Lynn Merechka worked at the stockade for the Federal Bureau of Prisons and said there were many violent incidents during the facility’s time as a prison. Four years ago, he bought the old abandoned prison because he thought it would make an interesting haunted attraction. The existing ghosts are helped with technology to enhance the experience, which includes tours throughout October.
“It’s a creepy old building,” he said. “We’ve got it set up pretty neat to scare you.”
