Eager crowd swarms Cabela’s opening
ROGERS – A crowd of more than 3,000 folks lined up Thursday morning (Aug. 30) to get their first look inside Cabela's new outdoor superstore which opened in Rogers.
“It took Cabela’s many years to open a retail store in Arkansas, but given the tremendous response from our customers today, it was well worth the wait,” said CEO Tommy Millner. “We are thrilled to be here, to join the community of Rogers, and we hope the many outdoor enthusiasts across the region enjoy the new store.”
Millner, Rogers Mayor Greg Hines and Arkansas Highway Commissioner Dick Trammel, who spoke on behalf of Governor Mike Beebe, were among the special guests attending a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The company said It took nearly 45 minutes for the entire line of customers to walk through the doors of the 100,000-square-foot store located in the Pinnacle Hills Promenade. Thursday’s opener was just the beginning of a weekend-long celebration.
Special guests appearing at the store throughout the weekend include:
• Pro Staff members from the television series “The Huntin’ Show,” 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m Saturday and Sunday;
• Snake Master Steve Scruggs, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday;
• Olympian Kim Rhode,10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday;
• Mr. Crappie, Wally Marshall, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday;
• Duck Commanders John Godwin and Justin Martin, 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday;
• NBA player Ronnie Brewer Jr., 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
