Avett Brothers coming to AMP Oct. 16

FAYETTEVILLE — The Avett Brothers, an indie rock band hailing form the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, are confirmed for an Oct. 16 show at the Arkansas Music Pavilion in Fayetteville, the AMP’s Brian Crowne said Friday.

The group has not inked it onto its website yet, but it’s clear their show here comes on the heels of their performance at the Austin City Limits Music Festival, where they are scheduled to play Oct 14.

The band’s two brothers, Scott and Seth Avett, play banjo and guitar, respectively. Both also sing lead and back-up vocals and play acoustic and electric guitar, piano, drums and percussion. On the minor instruments, Seth plays hi-hat and Scott plays harmonica.

A friend, Bob Crawford, provides backup vocals and plays stand-up bass, electric bass and percussion. Joe Kwon plays cello, and Jacob Edwards plays drums.

With some much instrumental talent between them, it’s easy to see how they can produce such a big sounds, even when it’s just the Avetts and Crawford on stage.

They won two American Music Awards in 2007: One for Best Duo/Group of the Year and one for Best Emerging Artist of the Year.
 
The Avett Brothers’ song "If it's the Beaches" was featured in Season 2 of the television series Friday Night Lights and and included on the sound track album Friday Night Lights Vol. 2. In addition, "Kick Drum Heart" was featured in the opening scene for the pilot of the television series Parenthood and was later featured on the show's soundtrack. Additionally, "Slight Figure of Speech" was played in the background in one episode. The title track to their most recent CD, "I and Love and You" was featured in the first episode of Men At Work and in season 7 episode 7 of One Tree Hill.

The performed "Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise" at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards in 2011.
