Art: Huffington in New York
An Ozarks treasure with works in public and private collections across the country, sculpture artist Anita Huffington is half of a two-man exhibit running through June 8 in Chelsea New York.
ACA Art Galleries is hosting Color and Form: The Work of Leon Berkowitz & Anita Huffington, featuring the late Berkowitz's paintings from his Seven Lights series alongside recent bronzes by Huffington.
Huffington has been exhibited in numerous public collections including the local Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York; and the Morris Museum of Art in Georgia, among others.
Her sculptures incorporate both classic and modern influences with a subtle nod to the most elemental of artistic subjects — the human body. She received the Jimmy Ernst Award in Art from the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2997, and won the Governor's Arts Award for an individual artist in Arkansas in 2005.
What some may not know about Huffington: she was originally trained as a dancer under the tutelage of Merce Cunningham and Martha Graham.
