Local small businesses garner national honors
Arkansas Power Electronics International Inc. of Fayetteville and Central Research of Lowell are among 75 small businesses in the United States receiving "Blue Ribbon" status in 2012. The award comes from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
"These small businesses not only strengthen the economy, but also invigorate their communities and contribute to the vibrancy of American free enterprise, according to the release.
The winners were selected from a record number of eligible and successful small businesses which were evaluated through a rigorous judging process in the areas of business strategy, staff training and motivation, community involvement, customer service, and entrepreneurship.
The 75 Blue Ribbon winners will now move on to the next round of judging to determine seven regional finalists.
All Blue Ribbon recipients will receive one complimentary registration to attend America’s Small Business Summit, May 21 – 23, in Washington, D.C., courtesy of Sam’s Club and will be recognized throughout the three-day event.
An overall winner will be named the 2012 Small Business of the Year on May 22.
Silicon Solar Solutions of Fayetteville was one of 25 small businesses tagged "Enterprise Nominee" by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
These companies were selected for exhibiting strong business practices and their economic contributions.
