Cancer Support Home offers free counseling, support groups
Out of every 100,000 Arkansans about 180 men and 259 women will be diagnosed with cancer this year, according to the American Cancer Society. The rate incident is 15% higher than the national average.
Washington Regional Cancer Support Home has recently added new services for cancer patients, including free counseling and two new support groups.
Individuals and their family members who have a cancer diagnosis or have recently completed treatment now have a resource for free, private counseling services in a homelike setting. Appointments are available by calling the Cancer Support Home at 479-521-8024.
In addition, two new support groups are offered at the Cancer Support Home. On the first and third Thursdays of each month, a support group for newly diagnosed cancer patients meets at noon at the Cancer Support Home in Fayetteville.
On the second and fourth Thursdays of each month, a support group for caregivers of cancer patients meets at 4:00 p.m. at the Fayetteville location. For more information please call 479-521-8024.
Established in 1995, the Cancer Support Home serves the Northwest Arkansas community with locations in Bentonville and Fayetteville. Services include free overnight lodging, support groups, various cancer screenings, resource library and mastectomy supplies.
