Bringin’ it on

You may have seen the 2000 teen comedy movie Bring it On (or Cheers!, as it’s known in Japan), but even that won’t prepare you for the stage production of “Bring it On: The Musical,” coming to the Walton Arts Center Feb. 7 and running through Feb. 12.

There will be tumbling, flipping and up-in-the-rafters cheerleading stunts, some of which will be performed by homeboy Sheldon Tucker of Bentonville. Tucker was “discovered” while cheering at Hawaii Pacific University, where his squads won two National Cheerleading Association national titles. He’s been with Bring It On: The Musical since the original workshop.

The show depicts the grueling world of competitive cheerleading with a softer message placed within: that winning isn't everything when it means losing something — or someone — you really care about. Awwww.

Show imes vary by date. Tickets range from $49-$73 and can be purchased by calling the Walton Arts Center box office at (479) 443-5600 or the Walton Arts Center website.

Student and group discounts are available for squads, has-beens or wannabe cheerleaders.
