Grab it and go
Minimal art supplies required — just grab what you can from the junk drawer, from the yard or from the side of the road along the way to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
An adult workshop from 1 to 5 p.m. Jan. 29 will teach budding artists how to make a collage in mixed media.
The class, titled “Bring Your Own Art: Collage-Making from Found Objects,” includes discussion and hands-on art-making experience. Participants are encouraged to use their imaginations in advance and be thinking about stories they’d like to share through their collages.
Some of the instructor’s suggested materials: art-making and recycled materials, such as old family and pet photos, old toys, computer parts, magazines, recycled paper, sheet music or wallpaper. Some of our suggestions: twigs, old maps, old calendar pages, old cassette tapes, wine labels, pages from church hymnals, marbles and costume jewelry.
Cost is $45 for non-museum members; members get a 10 percent discount. Would-be artists can should call (479) 418-5700 to learn more about registration.
