Odessa Perkins, 72, of Fort Smith, AR died Tuesday, September 4, 2012 in a local hospital.
She was born June 24, 1940 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Willie and Ella Perkins.
She was a homemaker; graduate of Lincoln High School; member of Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church where she was an usher, member of the Women's Missionary Society; president of the Missionary Society; president of the Cooperative Tea; secretary of the Cooperative Tea; member of Carrie Taylor Circle; Sunday School Superintendent; Church Women United; Young Women's Social Club; Mother's March – March of Dimes; Martin Luther King Jr. Planning Committee and the Red Hat Society.
Funeral will be Monday, September 10, 2012 at 11:00 am at Mt. Zion CME Church with burial at Washington Cemetery under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary of Fort Smith. Pallbearers will be Cornell Barker, William Gordon, Bobby Lee, Willie Love, Jr., Terry Moss, Jr., and Robert Marks.
She is survived by her children: Bevery Martens, Fred and Cecil Perkins (Lucretia), and Ann Brewer (Virl) all of Fort Smith, AR; 10 Grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; her siblings, Nancy Cross, Alice Perkins and Olish Perkins all of Fort Smith, Roscoe Perkins (Gladys) of Lawton, OK, Donald Ray Perkins (Linda) of Muskogee, OK, and Willie Jean Yarbrough of White Plains, MD.
The family will receive visitors and friends at 1338 Albert Pike, Apt. B, Fort Smith, Arkansas.
