Walton Arts Center in downtown Fayetteville will host an open house and evening celebration for its newly renovated and expanded facility on Saturday, Nov. 19 to kick off its 25th anniversary season.

The free, public open house event, titled “Behind the Curtain,” will be 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Open to all ages, the event will feature music, food, interactive activities and a guided tour for ages 14 and up — “giving patrons a behind-the-scenes look at the magic that happens in the theater,” according to a WAC press release.

The evening event, recommended for audiences ages 14 and up, is titled “Encore!” and will feature drinks and appetizers and an atrium-lighting ceremony, in addition to performances by the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas, Memphis-based a cappella group, DeltaCapella, and Chicago’s Mucca Pazza, in addition to several area jazz groups.

“November 19 is a big day for Northwest Arkansas,” WAC President and CEO Peter Lane said, according to the release. “Our $23 million renovated facility is ready to meet our audiences, and we sincerely hope you will come out and see what Walton Arts Center is prepared to offer.”

The expansion added 30,000 square feet of space to the facility, and additions include a new and expanded atrium that connects to Dickson Street, significant renovation and expansion of Starr Theater, expanded space for back-of-house technical and theatrical equipment and new administrative offices for staff.
