The University of Arkansas Global Campus and Startup Junkie Consulting have agreed to work together on educating the entrepreneurial community in Northwest Arkansas.

The goal of the partnership is to connect area entrepreneurs to technical and business training resources and ensure educational offerings are in line with the community’s needs, according to a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the entities’ leadership.

More specifically, UA Global Campus and Startup Junkie will “identify programs, events and initiatives that will drive lasting venture innovation and associated skill development resulting in better-prepared innovators, technologists and new venture founders in Arkansas and beyond,” according to the document.

Startup Junkie is a Fayetteville-based company that works one-to-one with entrepreneurs and bolsters the startup community through several U.S. Small Business Administration-backed programs, and the UA Global Campus is the distance-learning arm of the University of Arkansas, offering a number of professional development courses.

“The UA Global Campus is really an outstanding partner for us,” said Brett Amerine, chief operating officer of Startup Junkie, “We intimately understand the workforce development and professional development needs of the venture and innovation community. We are now able to rapidly communicate those needs to the UA Global Campus, and they are able to put together based on that input world-class curriculum and training opportunities to meet those needs, one of the outcomes being better trained and prepared entrepreneurs and innovators.”

Amerine said the two organizations were working together before entering the formal partnership on Oct. 1.

“Our team has supplied curriculum concepts that are needed by entrepreneurs and innovators, like digital marketing for example, and the Global Campus has begun putting that curriculum together, with highly credible instructors,” Amerine said. “Further, we help promote the UA Global Campus’ courses that are targeted toward the venture and innovation community.”
