Sen. Rapert named CEO of emergency lockdown device company

Arkansas Sen. Jason Rapert (R-Conway) has been named chief executive officer for a Conway-based startup that makes door lockdown devices for schools, homes and churches.

Rapert takes the lead at ULockIt Security while the company is planning to grow its market to sell the product nationwide, according to a press release.

ULockIt is a device built to re-inforce interior doors during an emergency, such as an active shooter situation. Hardware is installed on a door and, “in an emergency, the U-shaped locking piece is simply dropped into the receiver in a matter of seconds to give those inside important minutes to protect themselves,” according to the press release.

“ULockIt Security is focused on helping make America safer one door at a time,” Rapert said, according to the release. “I am honored to be asked to take this successful Arkansas startup beyond our borders to protect innocent lives in schools, colleges and churches across the country. The inventors of ULockIt had the foresight to address a pressing need and I am very proud to stand with them.”

ULockIt was designed by police officer Daniel Hogan and Carl Stuart Middle School Assistant Principal Wesley Scroggin. ULockIt Security Devices was formed in 2014.

Rapert is also a financial adviser, serving as president and founder of Rapert Financial & Associates since 2010, and he is the president and founder of Holy Ghost Ministries, a “faith-based humanitarian mission organization,” according to his LinkedIn page.

In the state Senate, Rapert is chairman of the Senate Insurance and Commerce Committee. He is also vice president of the National Conference of Insurance Legislators and serves on the legislative committee of the Washington, D.C.-based Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission, according to the press release.
