Create Your Own Congressional District Maps!

Frustrated by the Congressional redistricting debate at the state legislature? Create your own maps.

We’ve stumbled on to Dave’s Redistricting, an easy-to-download application that seems to work best on PC computers for redrawing Congressional lines.

Dave’s Redistricting is a little more sophisticated than the color crayon process that Rep. Clark Hall (D-Marvell) said his granddaughters used to create the "Fayetteville to the Fourth" map.

The site has several features that allow you to play with Congressional lines and it’s all based on the population counts from the 2010 Census. You can easily color-code the maps and layer it over existing Congressional District lines, too.  It will also calculate the ethnicity percentages and keep tabs on your population variances.

And here’s a bonus, you can even manipulate the program to allow you to draw legislative district lines – a process just now beginning.

We’re not sure who Dave is, although his links seem to have a left-of-center connection. Click here to access the program.

Perhaps you can solve the puzzle that has so far stumped legislative leaders. Check out the web site and feel free to send your map to me by e-mail at [email protected] or via Twitter at Twitter.com/RobyBrock.
