Southwest Power Pool is accepting applications for its pool of industry experts. Those who are selected will serve on an independent panel to review competitive transmission construction proposals in 2018, according to a news release.

The regional transmission company forms a pool of experts annually in response to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s Order 1,000. “This panel will review, rank and score proposals for certain transmission projects approved for construction by the SPP board of directors,” the release shows. Applicants must have expertise in at least one of the following areas related to electric transmission:

  • Engineering design
  • Project management and construction
  • Operations
  • Rate design and analysis
  • Finance

Applications will be accepted through Sept. 1. The Southwest Power Pool will appoint the applicants after receiving recommendations from the SPP oversight committee. Those selected to serve on the panel will be considered a contract employee and paid through a monthly retainer.
