Politicos Rex Nelson and Richard Bearden remember fondly the political career of former Fourth District Congressman Jay Dickey.

Dickey, who passed away at the age of 77 last week, represented south Arkansas for nearly a decade in the 1990’s.

Nelson was political editor of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette during Dickey’s Congressional tenure. Bearden was a former Republican Party of Arkansas executive director and later chief of staff for Dickey.

For Nelson and Bearden, Dickey was not only a larger-than-life political character, but he had a passion for Pine Bluff and the sprawling Fourth Congressional District.

From tales of him showing up at meetings of three constituents to his dog driving a SUV into a radio station to his sincere concerns for the voters of his district, watch and listen as Nelson and Bearden relive their favorite memories of Dickey.
