Jimmy’s Egg expects to open its first Arkansas restaurant at Nelson’s Crossing in Fayetteville on March 27, franchise owner Hunter Boelte said.

The nearly 3,500-square-foot restaurant at 3931 N. Shiloh Drive, formerly Kirkland’s, will be the Oklahoma City-based company’s 56th location nationwide. It will employ 27 full- and part-time employees, and accommodate up to 130 customers, Boelte said.

The Oklahoma City native said he spent 25 years growing up with Jimmy’s Egg restaurants and will open the restaurant in what he feels is the best location in Fayetteville. Oklahoma has 32 Jimmy’s Egg restaurants.

While the area has other chain breakfast restaurants, Fayetteville has “no fancy breakfast places,” Boelte said. “There’s really nowhere else to eat breakfast around here.”

Popular menu items include the omelets or cinnamon roll pancakes, but because the restaurant is entering a new market, it’s difficult to know which will be the most popular here, he said. His favorite is the Biscuit Debris, which is “two buttermilk biscuits with country sausage gravy, diced ham and sausage topped with melted cheddar” and one side item for $7.79, according to the menu.

While breakfast is the top seller on the menu, the restaurant also offers sandwiches and fajitas. Customers can order from the full menu all day. Hours will be from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily and closed Christmas and Thanksgiving.

Boelte, who leads partnership group JE Ark Egg, said he has franchise rights from Fort Smith to Branson, Mo., and plans to open one restaurant annually. A development agreement shows the group will open six to eight restaurants “in Arkansas and surrounding areas,” according to a news release.

For the first two weeks, the restaurant will host a food drive for Northwest Arkansas Food Bank, and donors who bring in a canned food item will have an extra opportunity to win a $600 gift card to the restaurant, said Mendi Landgraf, marketing manager for Jimmy’s Egg.

Next month, the restaurant will start to offer catering, including hot breakfast and lunch items. Customers can pick up the order or the restaurant can deliver it.
