David Mix, 39, has approached the real estate business like a golf tournament. He’s in it to win. And though he’s been very successful on the links of Northwest Arkansas, Mix has hit the sweet spot even more often with Dykes Bassett Mix Associates Inc.

As president and co-owner of the company, Mix has been the No. 2 real estate sales agent in Northwest Arkansas for the last two years and No.4 overall for the last four years combined ($43.5 million). He had $14.1 million in sales in 2000.

A graduate of Fayetteville High School, Mix began selling real estate at the age of 20 while attending the University of Arkansas. And in 1989, Mix, Mary Bassett and B.W. Dykes founded the company with only three other agents on staff. Today the company has about 30 agents, fourth most in Northwest Arkansas.

“Mary and I are hometown people,” Mix said. “We wanted to see the area grow and prosper, and we wanted to be a part of it.”

Mix was the first president of the Metro Board of Realtors in 1996 and is a member of the “50 for Fayetteville” committee appointed by Fayetteville Mayor Dan Coody to help recruit new businesses to town.

Mix, his wife and three daughters are all avid golfers.
