Brook Thomas, longtime news director at Fayetteville television affiliates KNWA-TV and KFTA-TV, is leaving his job.

Thomas told Whispers he has accepted a position working for Tyson Foods Inc. as an associate product manager in the fresh division.

After 16 years in the television business — the last nine as news director — Thomas’ last day at KNWA/KFTA is July 22.

KFTA and KNWA are sister stations, both owned by Nexstar Broadcasting Inc. of Irving, Texas.
A search for his replacement is already underway. He’ll start at Tyson Foods on July 25.
Why the sudden career shift?

“I wanted to find a new career path that would allow me the opportunity to grow while staying in this community,” said Thomas, a Fayetteville native and a member of the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 class in 2014. “This is my home, and I want to raise my family here.

“I have always considered Tyson Foods to be part of the Northwest Arkansas legacy,” he added. “And everyone I’ve spoken with has nothing but great feedback on their experience there. I’m trading one excellent culture for another.”
