Insurance commissioner approves dental HMO

Arkansas Insurance Commissioner Allen Kerr announced this week that he has approved AccessCare General, an Illinois-based dental health maintenance organization, to offer coverage in Arkansas.

ACG provides dental individual prepaid in-facility dental insurance to nursing home residents as a Medicaid supplement. It currently serves Illinois and Indiana. It will offer policies for on-site dental services in living facilities, including for assisted living and nursing home residents.

AccessCare General is the ninth new insurance provider approved this year.

It was approved to do business in 61 of 75 counties in the state, including: Arkansas, Baxter, Benton, Boone, Carroll, Clark, Clay, Cleburne, Columbia, Conway, Craighead, Crawford, Crittenden, Cross, Dallas, Faulkner, Franklin, Fulton, Garland, Grant, Greene, Hempstead, Hot Spring, Howard, Independence, Izard, Jefferson, Johnson, Lafayette, Lawrence, Lee, Little River, Logan, Lonoke, Madison, Marion, Miller, Mississippi, Monroe, Nevada, Ouachita, Perry, Pike, Poinsett, Polk, Pope, Prairie, Pulaski, Randolph, Saline, Scott, Sebastian, Sevier, Sharp, St. Francis, Stone, Union, Washington, White, Woodruff and Yell.
