Todd Greer with SpotRight is one of the presenters at Wednesday morning’s 1 Million Cups event in downtown Little Rock.

Greer, a former Acxiom executive, led a recapitalization of the young company that originated in Colorado, but now has offices in Little Rock.

1 Million Cups is the weekly programming event held each week at 9 a.m. at the Arkansas Venture Center, located at 107 E. Markham in downtown Little Rock catty-corner from the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Participants hear from entrepreneurs and have the opportunity to network and engage with like-minded business people. It’s easy to participate: just show up, drink coffee, ask questions and talk business for an hour.

Talk Business & Politics asked Greer a few questions in advance of his 1 Million Cups presentation on Wednesday morning.

TB&P: Where did the idea for SpotRight originate? What were you (and other partners) doing previously that led to this company?

Todd Greer: SpotRight started in Boulder, Colo. as a venture-backed social cause-marketing platform called Giveo. The founders pivoted when they realized that the value was in the social data, and then merged with Spot Influence, a social influence and technology company. We met the SpotRight team a few years ago while I was at Acxiom. Last year, their CEO and I saw an opportunity and decided to put together an investment group and recapitalize the company, bring in new talent, and drive the next phase of growth. We opened our Little Rock office this year.

TB&P: What type of growth have you seen in recent years and what do you see on the horizon?

Greer: We are a social data and analytics company that bridges social intelligence and audience engagement. Our space is very immature in the context of the overall targeted marketing space, which sees over $100 billion per year in U.S. spend, but is growing in the 50% YOY (year-over-year) range. We expect this to continue for the foreseeable future and expect healthy growth in our business as a result.

TB&P: You’ll be in a room full of hungry entrepreneurs on Wednesday morning. What do you hope the takeaway for them will be?

Greer: The pace is fast and the work is hard, so surround yourself with great people that you like and trust. And be sure to find balance in your life because it can consume you if you let it.
