Ronald McDonald House Turns Dirt As $8.5 Million Goal Nears

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas broke ground on a new $8.5 million housing facility on the campus of Arkansas Children’s Hospital on Tuesday.
The new facility, which houses families of sick patients at the pediatric hospital, will triple in size.
To date, roughly $7.5 million has been raised towards the $8.5 million goal. On Tuesday, Tyson Foods contributed $500,000 and announced it would stock the kitchen pantry of the House for a full year.
“We are inspired by the support of our lead donors, including McDonald’s of Central Arkansas and Tyson Foods, on this momentous occasion,” said Katie Kirkpatrick Choate, executive director of RMHCA. “Little Rock has become a worldwide hub for innovative medical care, which is underscored by the need for this House. Nearing the end of our campaign, we look to our community for support to reach our goal.”
The new House will replace the current structure, which is also on ACH campus. The new facility will be a five-story building with 32 bedroom suites, each with a private bath, queen-size bed and a sitting area with extra sleeping space. Kitchen and laundry facilities will also be on site as well as an 80-person dining room.
Additionally, the new House will have indoor and outdoor play areas, a wellness garden, a tree house, and a half basketball court.
