As Talk Business & Politics reported from the Simmons First shareholders meeting in Pine Bluff Thursday night, country music singer Justin Moore will be a new spokesman for Simmons Bank.

Moore will be featured in the new “Simmons Country” advertising campaign. He also will make personal appearances on behalf of Simmons Bank.

Simmons has reached $7.8 billion in total assets and operates with multiple locations in four states, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Tennessee.

Moore, a native of Poyen, Arkansas, was named New Artist of the Year at the Academy of Country Music awards ceremony in April 2014. He has had five No. 1 country hits, eight top 20 singles and three albums, two of which went gold.

“Like Simmons, Justin is a product of Arkansas who’s now receiving national recognition,” said George Makris, the Simmons chairman and chief executive officer. “We think he will be the perfect spokesman for us as we expand our services across the region.”

“I’m proud to be associated with an institution such as Simmons,” Moore said. “We both have roots in Arkansas and a deep tie to the people in this part of the country.”

After graduating from high school, Moore moved to Nashville, Tenn., and began writing songs. Moore wrote nine of the 10 tracks on his self-titled debut studio album, which was released in 2009 and rose to No. 3 on the Top Country Albums chart. Moore’s “Small Town USA” tour to promote the album began at Poyen.

In October 2009, “Small Town USA” became Moore’s first No. 1 hit. “Backwoods” was released as a single in October 2009 and became Moore’s second Top 10 hit. “How I Got to Be This Way” later became his third Top 20 country song.

In the summer of 2011, he released his second studio album titled “Outlaws Like Me,” which debuted at No. 1 on the country charts and produced two No. 1 singles, “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away” and “Til My Last Day.”

Moore’s third studio album, “Off the Beaten Path,” was released in September 2013 and also debuted at No. 1 on the country charts, along with adding his fourth and fifth No. 1 singles, “Point At You” and “Lettin’ The Night Roll.”

In a press release promoting the affiliation, Moore and the bank noted he is a Simmons customer.
